Installation:
Flood

Flood
Susan Stockwell has created Flood, this year’s installation at York St Mary’s, using recycled computer components.
Flood falls from the roof of the medieval church, and tumbles down to the nave in a mass of brightly coloured metal and wire, all set against the solid grey stone and architectural form of the building.
The installation explores the theme of communication, provided by religion in the past and by computer technology today.
It looks at the nature of our consumer society, exposing the insides of the machines we take for granted and use every day, then dispose of when they are finished with.
