We do appreciate that this will potentially add some distance to your journey. We believe though particularly at peak times that it will save you time and you will arrive at Bowen House not having had to endure the stress of navigating York’s inner city roads. From the North and Northwest A59 and A19As you approach York you will come to the A1237 Northern bypass. In order to avoid the City Centre we would suggest that you head east on the A1237 towards Scarborough and generally this would mean you take the 1st exit at the roundabout when joining the A1237. Continue on the A1237 generally straight ahead at the roundabouts taking care to be in the correct lane as they are different at each roundabout. Continue on the A1237 to the roundabout where the road splits into four lanes and there are traffic lights. Take the second exit on to the A1036 Malton Road and then follow the directions as if travelling from the East however starting from the first roundabout.Satellite NavigationThere are two Gladstone Streets in York so when using a satellite navigation system make sure you enter the correct and full postcode. This will ensure you arrive at Bowen House without a detour to the other side of York. The postcode is YO31 8RF.From the Railway Station on FootTurn left out of the station front. Always keep the road on your right. Pass the Royal York Hotel and Gardens on your left continue ahead cross the busy road. Keep on the left hand side path and pass under the bar walls. Continue on the same path slightly up hill and cross over the river Ouse. As you continue ahead you will see a set of traffic lights and York Minster will come into view and you should continue towards it. Pass to the right of York Minster continue ahead and follow the road round and you will come to the National Trust shop. Pass this on your left and as the street narrows Monkgate Bar will come into view. Go through this and again cross the busy road junction continuing straight ahead along Monkgate. When you come to the roundabout Huntington Road is the first left. Bowen House is on the corner of the second road on the right.
