Confident Ladies -Starting Over in Style is a social networking group designed to bring together a diverse group of women who may have experienced a significant change in their personal circumstances.
Changes such as, divorce, separation, redundancy, a new business, new job and even child birth can leave you feeling as though you have ‘lost yourself ‘or your ‘old work network’ and feeling overwhelmed at the thought of ‘what do I do now?’
Life isn’t always straightforward but more often than not the support of others will help.
As Bridget Jones said in her diary,
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that when one part of your life starts going ok another falls spectacularly to pieces”.
I decided to set up Confident Ladies after going through some life changes myself and after each of these I was left thinking:
‘Ok, what do I do now?’
For example, when I divorced after 14 years of marriage I was left with three small daughters and four bin bags full of our belongings. It was scary stuff!
I muddled through and over the next year or so I found a full time job, sorted out child care, found a house, sorted a will, sorted out life insurance.
More importantly I managed to sort out myself which ultimately led to me sorting out my life. It has been a bit like a game of Snakes and Ladders. Sometimes I’d feel like things were progressing really well then one of those pesky Snakes would come along and I’d slip and slide back a few places again.
Last year a big Snake came to get me and I was made redundant. However, life has taught me that there is often something good around the corner if you look for it.
So that’s how Confident Ladies came to be.
Why you should become a Confident Lady – group objectives
Since starting my own business I have met many inspiring women in businesses that have helped me along the way. Many offering workshops or events and most importantly support and advice. I found that this support didn’t always come from the traditional business networking events but more often from being in a fun, relaxed social environment.
So I decided to bring together workshops that are as diverse as we are, that are fun and useful with our business hats on or off! I believe with the right support the crisis life throws us can be the perfect time to make positive changes.
The objective of Confident Ladies is to get you back on your feet, feeling good about yourself again and Start over in Style!
