Paint the Town Pink in York, North Yorkshire, UK

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, Elizabeth Wells is offering a shocking pink lingerie range with 10% of profits going directly to Breast Cancer Campaign. Various events, including a ‘Pink Evening‘ and ‘Pink Up Your Bra‘, are being held in order to raise as much money as possible for this charity close to Elizabeth Wells’ heart.

‘I lost my close Auntie to breast cancer, which proves to me that despite a healthy lifestyle, we all need to be aware of the illness. Early detection is key to more women surviving this frightful illness.

This is what inspired Sarah Wells to throw herself into the involvement of Breast Cancer Campaigns new fundraising initiative, Paint the Town Pink, in York this October. The Shambles will be turning pink and Elizabeth Wells will be aiming to get everyone’s lingerie drawers to do the same! A shocking pink set will be sold at 10% profits going directly to Breast Cancer Campaign. Elizabeth Wells look forward to introducing people to their stunning non-wired ranges and making sure that ladies are correctly fitted in their bras.

Heard of pimp my ride? It’s taken to an underwear level in the Shambles ‘Pink Up Your Bra’ runs through October (closing date 29th October). The competition invites you and your friends to pink up your old bra using imagination, glue and whatever else you can find! All entry fees are donated to the charity and the winner will receive a £50 voucher to spend at their leisure in Elizabeth Wells.

‘I am so excited that Elizabeth Wells is taking such an active role in the Charity’s fundraising efforts, I am sure that, coupled with the other events in the City, York will be in for a bumper pink month!’ – Sarah Wells

As the Shambles is the most famous street in York, we naturally wanted to make it the focal point of our brand new Paint the Town Pink fundraising initiative. We hope that painting it pink will help to raise awareness of the initiative and encourage people to organise their own pink fundraising events.

The Shambles will also be holding a window spotting competition during October where everyone is invited to spot the hidden pink ribbons. All the proceeds will help to raise funds for Campaign, so make sure you pick up an entry form next time you visit the Shambles!’ – Lauren Baskett, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Community Development Manager

The ‘Pink Evening’ on the 29th October will invite ladies and gentlemen to join Elizabeth Wells for an evening of shopping, free bra fittings, pink refreshments and a pink raffle. 10% of all profits that evening will be donated to the charity.

It is hoped that as well as creating awareness of the charity and raising lots of money, visitors will appreciate the importance of early detection in the fight against breast cancer. The shoppers of York will also become more aware that the Shambles is a shopping district full of exciting independent stores that care about customer service and offering items you can not find on the high street.
