The River Ouse flows through North Yorkshire and the city of York.
Along its full length, the Ouse creates a beautiful and relaxing atmosphere as it runs across Yorkshire, through wonderful scenery and the serene tranquility of the river itself.
Within the city of York, the River Ouse provides visitors with much to see and do. Tourists can spend a whole afternoon or even a full day enjoying the sights of and along the river.
The river plays host to the York Rivers Festival every year, in the month of July, which includes events such as rowing regattas and canoe races as well as pieces covering the history of the Ouse, combined with stalls and much merriment had by all!
The York Rowing Club uses the River Ouse as its base, along with the rowing clubs of York University and University of York St John and St Peters School Rowing Clubs. These rowing clubs compete in regattas throughout the year, providing entertaining days out along the riverside. These regattas are the Yorkshire Head in March, Spring Regatta in May, Summer Regatta in June, Autumn Regatta in September and the York Small Boat Head in November.
In 2001 the River Ouse gained another visitor attraction with the completion of the Millennium Bridge, funded by the Millennium Commission, City of York Council, Joseph Rowntree Foundation and local businesses.
The River Ouse also boasts city cruises through the walled city of York from the early days of February to the end of November every year. These cruises are four times a day, at 10:30am, 12noon, 1:30pm and 3pm.

• Child (5 – 15) £3.30
• Family £20.00 (For up to 2 adults, 3 children)
• Under 5′s Free
There are also evening floodlit cruises available between April and October, leaving between 8:45pm and 9:15pm.

There are also lunchtime and evening dinner cruises available during the summer months, which are sure to add some spice to a trip to York as you cruise through the historic city centre enjoying a fabulous meal!
